Recently, a severe fire broke out in the Tai Po district of Hong Kong, causing significant damage to multiple households and forcing numerous families to evacuate urgently, with their lives severely disrupted. This tragedy has touched hearts across society and reminded us that in times of adversity, every act of support is significant and deserves to be witnessed.
To express care for the affected residents and provide timely assistance, MedHealth has decided to make a charitable donation totaling HKD 20,000. This includes a HKD 10,000 corporate donation and a matching HKD 10,000 personal donation from our senior executive and founder, Mr. Billy Yu. The funds will be channeled through trusted local organizations to provide emergency relief and support the long-term recovery efforts of those impacted. We hope this contribution will help the affected community overcome immediate difficulties and rebuild their lives.
Review and Impact of the Fire
The five-alarm fire at Hong Fu Estate has upended the lives of over a thousand families and drawn global attention. Last weekend, the queue of people paying tribute at the estate stretched for two kilometers, with reports indicating up to 5,000 people lining up at times. On social media, people mourned the friends and relatives lost, while survivors shared their accounts with the media. On December 1, the police announced that the death toll had risen to 151. As December begins and the search of the last affected building is concluded, the public faces a long road ahead in seeking truth, awaiting investigations, and rebuilding lives.
MedHealth's Swift Response and Commitment
Upon learning of the disaster's severity, MedHealth promptly initiated an internal response to provide tangible support to the affected residents, demonstrating our commitment to turning compassion into concrete action. As a company dedicated to global health, MedHealth believes that "health" extends beyond medical products and treatments—it encompasses holistic societal support and shared humanity. We hope this initiative helps the affected families feel the strength of community during this difficult time and fulfills our corporate responsibility.
