Recently, Shimen County in Hunan Province has been hit by persistent heavy rainfall. According to a report by CCTV News, local authorities in Shimen County stated that from 7:00 a.m. on May 17 to 6:00 p.m. on May 19, the county experienced its first round of heavy rainfall this year. As of now, 23 townships and districts across Shimen County have been affected to varying degrees, with a total affected population of 61,583. The disaster has claimed four lives, left one person missing, and several villages were once cut off from communication.
